Day 1
Day 1 is 80% theory and focuses on:
10 Safety
Rules including: Equalisation, Proper Breathing, Basic Physiology and Shallow
Water Blackout
Fish Hunting
Skills; Fish ID; Gear and Maintenance
Towards the end of the day we move into a pool or ocean
baths to complete a practical session on Breathing and Apnea. This
session includes a static session (that is, holding your breath) to allow
participants to determine their maximum breath hold and from this we develop a
personalized training schedule to develop their tolerance to CO2.
Training extends individual capability so participants are ultimately able to
spend more time on each freedive.
Day 1 runs from 8am to 4pm approximately.
Day 2
We revise the content of Day 1, and carry out a gear check,
before going into the ocean for the first of at least two open water sessions
for the day. The first session focuses on:
Executing
proper equalisation and duck dives;
Streamlining
your dive to make you more energy efficient in the water, including reviewing
participants fin swimming technique/s; and,
Giving
participants the confidence to enhance their bottom times. (Depending on
the group’s needs and experience the depths we do vary anywhere from 10 to
20m.)
The second session sees participants go out with a speargun
and receive feedback and coaching on how to use the gun more efficiently.
Hopefully, with any luck, we can find some nice fish and take a couple home for
dinner.
Day 2 runs from 8am to 4pm approximately
